Residents of Salt Lake, Davis, Utah and Weber counties are being asked to keep their use of motor vehicles to a minimum today because the Utah Division of Air Quality has issued a red alert advisory.
Mass transit options, including bus and carpooling, are encouraged as is leaving vehicles parked for as much of the day as possible.
Because unhealthy pollution levels are expected, sensitive people such as very young and active children, people with asthma, people with respiratory or heart diseases and the elderly should avoid outdoor activity during the midmorning and afternoon.
