Since the ruling July 6, the Clean Flicks stores have been selling off their remaining movies and getting ready to close shop.

"People have been ordering $200, $300 worth of movies," she said. "What else can they do? They know it's the last chance they'll have. This is Satan at his best."

Other stores are facing similar challenges.

The phone number for Cougar Clean Video in Spanish Fork has already been disconnected.

Cougar Video in Provo will continue renting regular films but is selling off its entire edited collection. The store no longer rents any cleaned-up movies.

"We've got about 4,000 non-edited movies, and we're hoping that will be enough of a draw," said Mike Clark, manager of Cougar Video. "We've had a mix of reactions. Some people are coming in that are pretty upset, but there are others who are disappointed but can understand the other side of the party that filed suit."

A few regular renters are downright angry about the decision.

"I think it's really stupid," said Dawn Gillings, who regularly rents edited films. "It's really irritating to me. There are really good movies that we wouldn't see otherwise. I think it's stupid that Hollywood is getting all artistic and putting that garbage into films. They need to open their eyes to see the fact that there's a market out there for movies without that."

Ray Lines, CEO of CleanFlicks Media Inc., said his editing company, which supplied the watered-down movies to rental stores, hasn't decided yet whether to appeal the ruling.

If an appeal is not filed, the court will force the editing companies involved to stop "producing, manufacturing, creating, designing, selling, renting" edited videos forever, according to the ruling.

All online rentals have already been suspended.
