Some fatherly advice Ron Brewer has passed along to son Ronnie, the Jazz's 2006 first-round draft choice:

Voice of the Son

"He (Ron) told me it would be a great opportunity to go play for (Jazz) coach (Jerry) Sloan. Right after we did the (pre-draft) interview, he said, 'He's a Hall-of-Fame coach; he might be hard on his players, but he gets the best out of them.' "

Voice of the Father

"In college, he (Ronnie) would peak and dip according to who he was playing. When he decided to put his name in the draft, I told him, 'You've got to think like a pro. Because every game at this level, they all can play. You've got to see Kobe Bryant one night, LeBron James the next night, (Ray) Allen up in Seattle. There's no downtime."
