Blood drive contest today at Gateway

ARUP Blood Services, area restaurants and businesses will hold their fourth annual Culinary Meets Capillary blood drive competition today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Grand Hall at Gateway mall, 90 S. 400 West.

Everyone is invited to donate blood in the name of their favorite participating restaurant or business.

Donors will each receive an admission ticket to the post-donation party on the patio outside the Grand Hall at the Union Pacific Depot. The event features prizes and food provided by many of the participating restaurants.

Sponsors, who are also competitors, include Ben's Cookies, Butterfly, California Pizza Kitchen, Desert Edge Brewery, Einstein's Bagels, Five Star Restaurants, Franklin Covey, Gastronomy Restaurants, Jason's Deli, KUTV Ch. 2, Lamb's Grill, Latitude Restaurant Group, Marie Callender's, Old Spaghetti Factory, Papa John's, Rumbi Island Grill, Starbucks and Virgin Megastore. Picture ID is required. The process, which includes screening, takes about 45 minutes. Donors may give blood every 56 days.
