A variety of activities await south Davis residents at Bountiful Handcart Days celebration July 21-22.
The annual parade, with more than 100 entrants, is Utah's second-largest parade, showcasing many of the floats that will be in Salt Lake City's Days of '47 Parade. The parade will be Friday, July 21, from 6-8 p.m. beginning at 1500 S. Main and going north on Main to Bountiful City Park, on 400 North between Main and 200 West.
Besides floats, entries include marching bands, horses, clowns, celebrities, antique vehicles and military units.
Fireworks will be displayed about 9:45 p.m. Friday on the field east of Mueller Park Junior High, 1000 E. 1800 South.
Live entertainment at the city park on Friday and Saturday will feature Jenny Jordan Frogley, Greg Simpson and Shane Jackman and Cherrie Call. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The event is free.
A chuck wagon breakfast will start the day Saturday from 7-10 a.m. at Bountiful Junior High, 400 N. Main.
Other events include free swimming Saturday at the Bountiful Recreation Center Saturday from 8-10 a.m.; family swim races, 10 a.m. to noon; and a figure-skating exhibition Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
A free bus tour hosted by the Bountiful Historical Commission on Saturday will depart hourly from the Bountiful Museum, 845 S. Main, and show residents spots of historical interest.
