Salt Lake City police have arrested seven people they say were running a small casino out of the basement of a house.

The investigation into the house near 1500 S. Major Street (50 East) began in 2005. Details of the operation were not released Wednesday. But Salt Lake police detective Joe Cyr said vice officers, including some undercover officers, were involved in the arrests.

A search warrant was served at the house on June 21. Seven men, ranging in age from 24 to 69, were arrested.

Cyr said investigators also seized three gambling tables, playing cards and an undisclosed amount of cash.
