Under the direction of Brady R. Allred, the University of Utah Singers have established themselves as one of the premiere collegiate choirs in the country. And now they can add "international" to that distinction.

On June 17, the University Singers participated in the European Grand Prix Competition held in Tolosa, Spain, and when it was over they walked away with the gold medal.

Competing against a half-dozen of the world's elite choral ensembles, the University Singers proved they are without question one of the top choral ensembles in the world today. "We are thrilled and can't stop smiling," Allred told the Deseret Morning News via e-mail.

The choir returned to Salt Lake City last Thursday after spending nearly a month concertizing in France and Spain prior to the competition.
