A Dallas-based business process outsourcing and information technology services company said Wednesday it plans to open a facility in Salt Lake City in mid-August and have about 600 people working there by early next year.

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will open a 47,000-square-foot facility at 1911 N. 2200 West. It will hire 250 people in the next several weeks.

The positions include call center managers, supervis- ors, trainers, help desk specialists and experienced and entry-level customer service agents. All employees will be required to complete a seven-week paid training class that begins July 10.

ACS said it will host a job fair at the facility from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. More information is available at 801-567-5439 or the ACS Web site at www.acs-inc.com/career.

The company already has 2,000 employees in Draper, Heber and Sandy. The fourth location will provide cus- tomer service and technical support for a large wireless communications carrier, handling more than 250,000 customer calls per month.

"This is a great opportunity for ACS to expand its presence in Salt Lake City," Ann Vezina, ACS Group president of commercial solutions, said in a prepared statement. "This has become a key location for ACS thanks to the excellent labor market. We look forward to continuing to provide superior service to our clients and promoting awareness of ACS as an outstanding place to work."

ACS has more than 55,000 employees supporting clients in nearly 100 countries. Its stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
