WEST VALLEY CITY FedEx, Safe Kids Salt Lake County and Safe Kids World Wide have given $10,000 to West Valley City to prevent auto-pedestrian accidents near Monroe Elementary School.
The grant will go to build a pedestrian ramp and a barrier to prevent illegal left turns into the school and redirect the flow of traffic.
In the past five years, 100 children have been hit by cars in West Valley City, and two have died, the city reports. Four incidents occurred near Monroe.
