Anderson proves unbeatable again

The comment made before the supermoto race at Miller Motorsports Park was that "Cassidy Anderson is unbeatable."

It appears the speaker was right. The Provo rider won Saturday's AMA Supermoto Lite event, giving him four wins in four races.

Anderson earned the pole position by virtue of having the fastest qualifying time. He won the 10-lap event by more than three seconds, which is a huge gap in cycle racing.

Supermoto is a mix of road racing and motocross. The two ends of the track are a dirt motocross. They are connected by a twisting asphalt road track. The motorcycles are motocross bikes with smooth road-racing rear tires.

Anderson, who rides for Honda, said the track was demanding, "more demanding than any track we've ridden this year. After five laps you're winded."

He said the secret to winning was hitting each line perfectly. "When a 10th of a second is all that usually separates the top five finishers, you can't afford to mess up," he added.

Finishing second in the class was Brandon Currie of Anaheim, Calif., and third was David Pingree of Temecula, Calif.

Winning the Supermoto event was Doug Henry of Torrington, Conn., with Mark Burkhart in second.
