Raymond, Stosur prevail

PARIS — Lisa Raymond of the United States completed a career Grand Slam in women's doubles, teaming with Samantha Stosur of Australia to beat Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia and Ai Sugiyama of Japan 6-3, 6-2 Sunday for the French Open title.

The 32-year-old Raymond won the Australian Open in 2000, Wimbledon in 2001, and the U.S. Open in 2001 with Rennae Stubbs of Australia.

Raymond also won the 2005 U.S. Open with Stosur, their first major together.

"The first thing I said to Sam when we won was, 'Thank you for finally getting me this title,"' said Raymond, who lost in three previous French Open doubles finals.

"To finally be able to win here, to complete the Slam, that's just an unbelievable feeling. To finally get the French Open off my back, get that monkey off my back, it feels great."

She is the 13th woman in the Open era to win at least one doubles title at all four of the majors.

"I knew going into the match how much Lisa wanted to win this one, and I'm just glad that I could be the one that happened to be on the court with her when she got it," Stosur said. "I'm happy for us both, but I'm also very happy for her to achieve that."
