Provo native tabbed as U.S. attorney

WASHINGTON — The White House officially nominated Provo native Brett L. Tolman to be the U.S. District Attorney for Utah on Friday.

If confirmed by the Senate, Tolman will serve a four-year term. He will replace Paul Warner, a Clinton appointee who served 7 1/2 years in both Democrat and Republican administrations. Warner stepped down in late January to become a U.S. magistrate in Utah.

Tolman has counsel for crime and terrorism at the Senate Judiciary Committee. He served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah from 2000 to 2003. He earned his bachelor of arts degree and law degree from Brigham Young University.
