Indian health centers may retain their funding after the U.S. House of Representatives restored nearly $33 million that was cut in President Bush's proposed budget.
The Senate must still consider whether to restore the funding to the Urban Indian Health Program. The funding was included in the House's Interior Appropriations bill, which passed this spring.
The program provides funding for 34 nonprofit, Indian-controlled and operated urban-health programs, including the Indian Walk-in Center in Salt Lake City.
