An early morning fire Saturday caused a half million dollars in damage to several new condominiums and had firefighters busy for more than 10 hours mopping up hot spots.
Sandy Fire Battalion Chief Steven Demas said the fire broke out at the Park Ridge Condominiums at 1:55 a.m.Demas said the fire, which remains under investigation, completely destroyed four units and jumped to a third building after being fueled by the wind. Half of the third building was destroyed. All of the buildings were vacant, he said.
Firefighters from Salt Lake County, Midvale, South Jordan and West Jordan assisted. Investigators were at the scene Saturday afternoon attempting to determine the cause of the blaze.
