The July patriotic season is arriving, and Utah communities are celebrating. The following list details what is happening and where:
Salt Lake County
BRIGHTON - 25th annual community breakfast, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 4, Brighton LDS Chapel. Small charge for meal and entertainment.
MURRAY - Murray city celebrations begin at 6:30 a.m. July 4 with the annual community breakfast, which will be served at the Murray Park Pavilion No. 5. A sunrise service will be performed at the Murray Park ampitheater followed by a 5k race which will begin at City Hall and end in Murray Park. The Fun Day Parade will commence at 8:30 a.m. at Fashion Place and will be preceded by a performance by Salt City Brass in Murray Park. Daytime activities will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Evening entertainment will include performances from Salt City Brass, Shanahy, The Music Man Spotlights and The Bavarians. Fireworks will top the evening at 10 p.m.
RIVERTON - Riverton City Town Days will begin at 6:30 p.m. July 3 with a parade. The route will begin at the LDS stake center, travel along 13400 South, turn north on Redwood Road, over to 12600 South and down 1300 West to the end at the city park. On July Fourth there will be an American Legion flag-raising ceremony at 6:45 a.m. at Riverton's city park followed by the Country Mile 10k race and fun run at 7 a.m. A 10 a.m. chuckwagon breakfast will provide partygoers with energy for the daylong park games, relays, rides and activities. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. "Bye Bye Birdy" will be presented July 3, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11 at 8 p.m. at the city park at 12700 S. 1500 West.
SALT LAKE CITY - This year's Fourth of July bash will be held at Sugarhouse Park. From 3 p.m.to 6 p.m. there will be a charity softball game followed by live performances from the Blenders and 98 Degrees (not confirmed). Skydivers arrive at 8:15 p.m. The Symphony will begin its concert at 8:30 p.m. and will be joined by fireworks at 10 p.m.
