While building a successful business career at everything from startups to Fortune 500 companies, Dallin Anderson dreamed of creating a successful, money-making company whose larger goal was, quite simply, helping people in a big way.
And there's nothing small about his vision for Salt Lake-based Montigen Pharmaceuticals, which he founded in 2003: Anderson wants to cure cancer.
Montigen, which is still in drug discovery and development stages, does business based on three strategies developed by Anderson: scalability that allows for efficient growth; adaptability to move with changing market conditions and exploit innovations developed by the company; and, finally, a corporate culture that emphasizes employee ownership of the work, leading to even more innovations.
Montigen was acquired in April by SuperGen Inc., primarily for such assets as the company's proprietary drug discovery technology and several late-stage pre-clinical compounds that show promise in treating solid tumors for such cancer types as breast, colorectal, ovarian, pancreatic and prostate.
Anderson is still at the helm, however, encouraging his company not only to find new ways to fight cancer, but also to completely change the way such work is done. And, Anderson hopes, getting results that can move as quickly as possible to the market, helping real cancer patients.
