NATURE CENTER EVENTS

The Ogden Nature Center has several events scheduled this month. Call 621-7595 to pre-register.

JUNE 15 — the Buzz About Bees. An amateur beekeeper will talk about the life cycle of bees, why bees are important, beekeeping tips and challenges. The class is from 6 to 7 p.m. Cost is $5 for members, $6 for nonmembers.

JUNE 19-21 — I Love Animals Art Class. Paint animals using watercolors, colored pencils and oil pastels. Animals in the air, under water and on land. All materials supplied. Class is from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 8 to 18. Cost is $45 for members, $55 for nonmembers.

JUNE 19-21 — Big Wild Creatures Art Class. Paint the big guys living and extinct, like dinosaurs, moose and whales. All materials supplied. Class from 1 to 4 p.m. for ages 8 to 18. Cost is $45 for members, $55 for nonmembers.

JUNE 20-AUG. 17 — Tai Chi for Children. Call for information.

JUNE 22 — Summer Concert Series. Call for information.

MILLCREEK HERB WALK

The Utah Museum of Natural History will conduct the Millcreek Herb Walk through the canyon on Saturday.

The hike, led by Merry Lycett Harrison, over Millcreek Herbs, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will look at the diversity of the vegetation and its practical uses.

It is open to anyone age 12 and older.

Transportation from the museum is provided. Cost is $22. Pre-registration is required.

NATURE CENTER WALKS

The Wild Bird Center will hold two free nature/bird walks during the month of June.

Groups will leave from the center, 1860 N. 1000 West in Layton, and carpool to the destination. The walks are designed for birders at all levels, especially families.

Dress for the weather and bring binoculars.

JUNE 10 — La Plata Trip No. 1 will leave at 7 a.m.

JUNE 24 — La Plata Trip No. 2 will leave at 7 a.m.

WOMEN OUTDOORS

The first annual Women in the Outdoors event will be held June 23 and 24 at Vernon Reservoir.

Women 14 and older are being invited to the Wasatch Wilderness Women's event.

Vernon Reservoir is 70 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.
