—Alfonso Soriano, Nationals, hit a grand slam and a solo homer in Washington's 8-4 win over Milwaukee.

—Gerald Laird, Rangers, homered twice and drove in a career-high four runs to lead Texas to a 10-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

—Chris Young, Padres, allowed just two hits over eight innings as San Diego edged Pittsburgh 1-0.

—Tony Clark, Diamondbacks, had four hits, including two home runs, as Arizona topped Atlanta 9-3.

—Javy Lopez, Orioles, had two homers in Baltimore's 11-4 win over the New York Yankees.

INJURED

St. Louis placed Albert Pujols on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained muscle on his right side. Pujols, last year's NL MVP and this season's major league leader in homers (25) and RBIs (65), could be out as long as six weeks.

NO NO-NO

San Diego's Chris Young flirted with a no-hitter for the second straight start Sunday, holding Pittsburgh hitless for 5 1-3 innings in the Padres' 1-0 win. On Tuesday, Young took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in a 2-0 win over Colorado. San Diego still remains one of four big league teams, including the Rockies, New York Mets and Tampa Bay Devil Rays, without a no-hitter.

SWIPED

Corey Patterson stole two bases in Baltimore's 11-4 win over the New York Yankees, giving him steals in eight straight games. That's the longest run in the majors since Kenny Lofton had an eight-game streak for Cleveland in 1996.

SWEEPING

Florida completed a three-game sweep of Colorado with Sunday's 4-3 victory. The Marlins have won nine of their last 12. ... Washington swept its three-game series against Milwaukee after an 8-4 victory. The Brewers have lost eight straight. ... Arizona's 9-3 win over Atlanta marked the first time since 1995 that the Braves had been swept in a four-game series. Philadelphia won all four games at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium from May 5-8, 1995.
