SPANISH FORK — The Spanish Fork Arts Council has announced the formation of the Nebo Philharmonic Orchestra, a new symphony orchestra for the upcoming 2006-07 season.
Membership is open to adult musicians by audition. Auditions for standard orchestral instruments will be held by appointment on June 20, 21, 23 and 24 at the High Chaparral, 475 S. Main (Spanish Fork Fairgrounds).
The audition is in three parts: two prepared selections or excerpts of the performers choice in contrasting styles and tempi, taking no more than six minutes to perform; scales (both major and minor); and sight-reading. (This portion of the audition is a series of short exercises ranging in level from very easy to fairly difficult.)
Rehearsals for the new group will be Tuesday evenings during the concert season. There is no tuition or fee for participation.
