Fire caused about $60,000 in damage to a home in unincorporated Salt Lake County south of Holladay on Sunday.
A neighbor who entered the home to see if anyone was inside suffered minor injuries due to smoke-inhalation, said Unified Fire Authority spokesman Jay Fearnley.
The fire, which began about 3:30 p.m., occurred in the 1600 East block of Village Green Road (6810 South). The homeowner was burning weeds in his back yard when the fire spread to the garage, Fearnley said. The garage was a total loss, and the home also sustained some damage.
No one was inside the home at the time.
