BRIAN HEAD A New Jersey woman fell nearly 50 feet off a cliff near Brian Head Peak Saturday afternoon.
Iron County Sheriff's Office officials said the 40-year-old woman was tied off to her husband, but he slipped, causing her to fall 40-50 feet to a landing below. She then continued her descent, falling another 15 feet.
She suffered several injuries to the head, including a laceration and severe eye trauma, according to a statement from the Iron County Sheriff's Office. Her brother, who was hiking with the group, is a doctor and treated her at the scene until rescue crews arrived. She was transported via medical helicopter to a local hospital.
