OREM — Jason Chaffetz, former chief of staff for Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and current president of business management company Maxtera Utah Inc., will fill a vacancy on Utah Valley State College's Board of Trustees following the resignation of Michael Mower, who served as a member on the board for almost three years.

Mower, the current deputy chief of staff/communications director for the governor, stepped down from the Board of Trustees to spend more time with his family and assume additional responsibilities at the state Capitol.

Chaffetz, a former executive of Nu Skin Enterprises and field reporter and anchor in sports at KUTV Channel 2, earned his bachelor's of arts in communications with a broadcast emphasis at Brigham Young University, where he was on athletic scholarship as a place kicker on the football team.
