The Utah Republican Hispanic Assembly elected Sylvia Haro as its new chairwoman last week.

Haro, senior vice president of community outreach for Zions Bank, will serve a two-year term. She succeeds Marco Diaz.

Other 2006-08 officers are J. Michael Clara, first vice chairman; David Torres, second vice chairman; Rachel Torres Lyon, secretary; and Rick Estrada, treasurer.

The Hispanic Assembly was created in January 2002 as an auxiliary of the Utah Republican Party. Its members work to help foster understanding between the Republican Party and the Hispanic community, and to attract Hispanics to the Republican Party.
