If you're traveling through Nephi this weekend, prepare for delays. The Utah Department of Transportation is reducing northbound Interstate 15 down to one lane to install a concrete barrier.
The barrier is to "facilitate" a construction project early next month when southbound traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes as crews repair the concrete road surface, said UDOT spokeswoman Bethany Eller.
UDOT is advising motorists to leave earlier or later than normal to avoid traffic. Detours include Main Street in Nephi.
"With the public's help in staggering their travel times, we hope to avoid heavy delays," said Dave Nazare, a UDOT region director.
UDOT does not anticipate any additional road restrictions in the state this weekend. Several mountain roads, including Wolf Creek Pass, East Canyon, Monte Cristo and the Alpine Loop, will be open by this weekend.
