Museum to honor Franklin's 300th

Dinner, speech by Sen. Hatch are highlights of party

PROVO — The Crandall Historical Printing Museum will honor Benjamin Franklin's 300th birthday at its third annual fund-raising banquet on June 2 at the Provo Marriott Conference Center, 101 W. 100 North.

A private reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Mark Skousen, sixth great-grandson of Franklin will speak about the life of the patriot and inventor. Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, will be the keynote speaker discussing Franklin's influence on modern-day government.

An auction including a customized 15-day tour of the Holy Land sponsored by LDS Travel Study; an actual printed document from Ben Franklin; special art works from the Springville Museum of Art and a signed limited edition Arnold Frieberg print also will be held at the event.

Donations from the banquet help support the museum's educational programs and tours. A portion of this year's donations will help with future expansions and renovations at the museum. Cost is $100 per plate or $1,000 per table. Call 377-7777. Reservations must be received by May 30. The museum, 275 E. Center, is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. Special group lecture tours may be made by reservation.
