Camp Floyd State Park in Fairfield and the Utah Civil War Association will join together to host a Civil War Encampment.
The event will take place Saturday, May 27, and Monday, May 29, at Camp Floyd State Park.
Visitors are invited to experience camp life and participate in several activities performed by soldiers of Johnston's Army. Attendees can learn to drill and march, load and fire a Civil War period rifle, and watch a battle and medical display.
A candy cannon will be fired twice each day for the kids. Those attending can bring a picnic and have lunch with a soldier; participate in 1861 period games; make a candle; spin toy; and mine for gold. A Civil War fife and drum band will also perform.
Established in 1858, Camp Floyd was once home to the largest concentration of U.S. troops in the United States. Camp Floyd State Park is located in the town of Fairfield, 22 miles southwest of Lehi on State Highway 73. For more information call 801-768-8932.

PHEASANTS FOREVER
A group of Sevier County residents has established the Rooster Valley Pheasants Forever Chapter. The chapter plans to involve local youths interested in the outdoors, while also working to enhance area wildlife populations through habitat improvements. The new chapter becomes one of six PF chapters in the state. The chapters are located in Utah, Salt Lake, Carbon and Emery counties, the Golden Spike area and Cache Valley.
The chapter has identified habitat improvements on public lands as a focal point. The group plans to offer assistance to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in managing some local wildlife management areas.
Pheasants Forever and its quail division, Quail Forever, apply a unique and successful model of empowering local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent.
