Clearfield appoints band leader

Clearfield City has named a director for its new community band and orchestra. Gretchen Myers, a Clearfield resident, singer and musician will lead the newly formed band.

Myers has a bachelor of arts degree in music and vocal performance. She is an accomplished cellist and semi-professional singer. She has performed in numerous musical theatre productions and has directed children's groups and musical theatre productions.

The band is evaluating its strengths and selecting music. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights from 7 -9 p.m. in the Little Theatre of the Clearfield Community Center, 140 E. Center St.

Local musicians interested in joining the band are encouraged to attend and bring their own music stands.

The Clearfield Community Band and Orchestra will perform at various city events throughout the year and will have three concerts per year: Fourth of July, yule holiday and spring concerts.
