Clarence Goodson's own goal in the 81st minute allowed the Houston Dynamo to tie FC Dallas 1-1 on Saturday in Frisco, Texas.
The own goal was scored after a header by Houston's Eddie Robinson bounced off Goodson's right shoulder and into the right corner of the FC Dallas net. Robinson was attempting to play a corner kick at the top of the goalie's box and slipped in front of Goodson.
Carlos Ruiz scored an unassisted goal in the 19th minute to give FC Dallas (4-1-3) a 1-0 lead. The score came minutes after he was knocked to the ground on a mid-air collision with Robinson in the 17th minute, leaving the FC Dallas forward on the grass for almost two minutes. Ruiz has now scored in three consecutive games.
Drew Moor had a good opportunity for FC Dallas in the 93rd minute when he had an open shot at the Houston goal, but his header from the top of the goalie's box went high over the crossbar.
The Dynamo (4-2-1) played most of the game without their two leading scorers, Brian Ching and Dwayne De Rosario. Ching, the MLS leader in goals scored, is with the U.S. national team preparing for the World Cup. De Rosario left the game in the 39th minute with an injury to his right ankle.
FC Dallas goalie Dario Sala had three saves, and Houston goalie Pat Onstad also had three saves.UNITED 2, WIZARDS 1: At Washington, Jaime Moreno converted a first-half penalty kick to help D.C. United win. D.C.'s Alecko Eskandarian also scored on a sensational one-time volley, while Kansas City's Sasha Victorine scored from the penalty spot. CREW 1, RAPIDS 0: At Columbus, Ohio, Ned Grabovoy scored in his first game with Columbus to give the Crew the victory. Grabovoy and midfielder Joseph Ngwenya arrived in Columbus early Saturday morning following a late-night flight from Los Angeles after they were acquired from the Galaxy in exchange for Kyle Martino and John Wolyniec.
