Real Salt Lake filed an appeal late Tuesday challenging Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon's decision to release the team's financial data to the public.

When asked last week why the team planned to file the appeal, Real CEO Dave Checketts said, "I have nothing to hide." But Checketts went on to say that some of the data could harm efforts to purchase land. That information should be classified as proprietary business information, according to the appeal.

Some of the team's documents, including its business operating model, were leaked to the media last month.
