OMAHA, Neb. The Omaha Royals scored four runs in the fourth inning and never looked back as they defeated the Salt Lake Bees 5-3 on Wednesday night.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Bees, while the win ended the Royals' six-game losing streak.
Salt Lake led 1-0 on a second-inning solo homer by Mike Eylward, his first career AAA home run, until a two-run double by Mike Aviles put Omaha ahead to stay.
Nathan Bland (0-2) suffered the loss for the Bees as he gave up three runs on five hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Nick Gorneault had two hits, including a run-scoring single in the eighth inning that brought the Bees back to within two runs of the lead, but it was too little, too late.
For Salt Lake, it was the fifth time this season that they have won three straight games, but have been unable to extend their win streak.
The two teams meet again today with an 11:05 a.m. MDT start time.
