OMAHA Kasey Olenberger tossed six shutout innings to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 5-2 victory over the Omaha Royals on Tuesday night. Olenberger (2-0), who was moved up in the rotation by one day, allowed just three hits, struck out three and walked three. Steven Shell, who was scheduled to start, was scratched due to back spasms.
The win gave the Bees a 6-0 record on travel days and improved the team to 7-1 in the first game of the series.
Jeff Mathis had a pair of doubles and scored twice for Salt Lake, while Reggie Willits, Kendry Morales and Curtis Pride each had an RBI for the Bees. Marcus Gwyn tossed one scoreless inning of relief, while Greg Jones gave up two runs in two innings.
