The Seventh Annual Sanpitch Rhubarb Festival takes place Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant. Local vendors will show off rhubarb edibles such as ice cream, salsa, pizza, shakes, pancake syrup and pies. The day's highlights include the Ugly Truck Parade and the Rhubarbarian Raw Rhubarb Eating Contest. Native Wines Heritage and Wild Fruit Winery at 72 S. 500 West will host the World's Best Rhubarb Pie Contest at 3 p.m., with a $100 prize awarded to the two top winners.

Metropolitan is hosting Locals Appreciation Night on Mondays. Diners can choose a specialty three-course dinner for $30 or a five-course meal for $45.

Papa Murphy's recently launched a new Herb Chicken Mediterranean pizza. As one of the company's "deLITE" style pizzas, it has a cracker-thin crust and is topped with grilled chicken, fresh spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese and zesty herbs. It has about half the calories of a regular pizza and bakes in 10-12 minutes.

Downtown Provo is hosting a restaurant event called The Sampler Platter, today and Wednesday, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Diners can buy a ticket and map of participating restaurants for $5 at Los Hermanos (16 W. Center) or the Downtown Business Alliance office (250 W. Center, Suite 109). The ticket allows you to sample foods at Allie's American Grill, Demae Restaurant, Einstein's, Fresh Cup Coffee, Guru's, Hickory Kist, The India Garden, Joe Vera's, Los Hermanos, Pampas and Se Llama Peru (801-377-5700 or www.downtownprovo.org).

Market Street Grill & Oyster Bar was named one of the nation's top 100 independent restaurants in the April 1 issue of Restaurants & Institutions. Market Street ranked 95th, the only Utah restaurant listed in the magazine about the food-service industry. Other top independents listed were Joe's Stone Crab in Miami Beach, New York's 21 Club, Wolfgang Puck's Spago in Las Vegas, Boulevard in San Francisco and Seattle's Ray's Boathouse.

Carl's Jr. is conducting a monthlong fund-raiser to benefit breast-cancer awareness and research. Throughout the month of May, restaurant guests will receive a coupon for a free beverage on a future visit for every $1 donation. Last year Carl's Jr. raised more than $175,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (www.ckr.com or www.carlsjr.com).

Colosimo's Sausages, a locally made product since 1923, will be sold at local entertainment venues this summer. Concession stands at Lagoon Amusement Park, Real Salt Lake games at Rice-Eccles Stadium and Salt Lake Bees games at Franklin Covey Field will sell the sausages.
