Utah voters like lemmings

Mark J. Madrian's admission that he plans to vote for a Democrat after 20 years (Readers' Forum, May 8) is a brash move. The lemming-like mentality of Utah voters has created a single-party state with few or no checks and balances. It is refreshing to know that at least one lock-step Republican is willing to consider the candidate and not just the party.

Maybe there is hope for Utah voters after all.
