Elder Derek won't be watching Brother Derek.

Kentucky Derby favorite Brother Derek is named after Elder Derek Tillotson, a missionary in Armenia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tillotson's father, Craig, owned the horse when it was broke and trained in Utah.

Will Elder Tillotson be watching today's race live? "Sorry, but there is no 'live' in Armenia. It's a great place, but they're not too electronic savvy. The only way I'll probably be able to watch it is if I get a bunch of pictures sent to me, and I make a little flip-book."

How has the missionary been keeping up with the horse? "The opportunities to follow current events are few as a missionary. We stay really focused on the Lord's work, but my family has sent me a few care packages to keep me informed."

Elder Tillotson's answers to Salt Lake Tribune questions were via e-mail, and provided to the Deseret Morning News by John Brocklebank, who was Brother Derek's trainer in Utah.
