Pleasant Grove passes plan on annexing property

PLEASANT GROVE — Property owned by Trophy Homes — on which Liahona Academy hopes to build its private, LDS-themed school — was preliminarily granted approval Tuesday night by the City Council to annex into Pleasant Grove.

City Council members did express concern over the intended use of the property — suggesting a possible zone change for the area in the future — but passed the annexation proposal 3-2.

No mention of specific plans for the school were made during the proposal discussion, but a closed session took place following the meeting, in which details of the plan were to be discussed.

The proposed annexation of county land into the city will now undergo a 30-day waiting period, in which objections may be made. A public hearing will follow the waiting period, to discuss future plans for the property.
