It is unfortunate when an author like Paul Mero of the Sutherland Institute (April 16) is vicious in his bias and misinformation. He asserts that "quality growth" is derived from a "group of self-selected Utahns passive-aggressively using government authority to craft neighborhoods in their own 'green' image."
The Envision Utah process was open and inclusive of average citizens like my wife and myself, who are political moderates. We attended five hearings. The final preferred growth scenario was based upon what citizens not just developers want their communities to be.
I ask Mr. Mero, what is wrong with citizens determining their own future through public processes?
