USA Today's NFL mock draft
2. New Orleans: Reggie Bush, RB, Southern California: After drafting D-linemen, the Saints can get a player who could touch the ball 20 times a game. Can they really pass on Bush's versatility and explosion?
3. Tennessee: Vince Young, QB, Texas: The USC connection is deep with coach Jeff Fisher and O-coordinator Norm Chow, who reportedly are pushing for Matt Leinart. Owner Bud Adams, though, signs the checks.
4. New York Jets: Matt Leinart, QB, Southern California: Leinart, the most NFL-ready passer in the draft, has compared himself to three-time champ Tom Brady, the 199th player chosen in 2000. Subliminal message to Jets coach/Bill Belichick disciple Eric Mangini?
5. Green Bay: D'Brickashaw Ferguson, T, Virginia: What, no A.J. Hawk in this slot? Premier O-tackles are harder to come by. By this point in the draft, something happens to skew the whole mock process. Like a trade.
6. San Francisco: Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland: After taking Alex Smith with the No. 1 pick last year, the 49ers need to give their young quarterback some weapons.
7. Oakland: A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio State: If Young is still on the board, dress him in silver and black. Jay Cutler might be another option. But the Raiders could have their choice of headhunters to bolster the 27th-ranked defense. If not Hawk, then DB Michael Huff.
8. Buffalo: Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon: Dick Jauron is trying to rebuild a defense that regressed tremendously in 2005 after ranking No. 2 the previous year. Ngata is a wide-body considered the best run-stuffer in the draft.
9. Detroit: Michael Huff, S, Texas: Chad Jackson, the top-rated receiver, hasn't been picked yet. But Lions GM Matt Millen who took first-round receivers three years in a row contains himself.
10. Arizona: Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt: Dennis Green wants to win now, which is why a D-tackle such as Brodrick Bunkley might be in the mix. But the Cardinals could use a young quarterback prospect.
11. St. Louis: Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech: Just two NFC teams had fewer interceptions and only one allowed more touchdown passes last season than the Rams. The physical Williams is the top-rated corner in the draft.
12. Cleveland: Brodrick Bunkley, DT, Florida State: Bunkley is a quick-burst type of inside rusher, said to be in the Warren Sapp disruptive mold. Would he fit in Romeo Crennel's 3-4 defense? They'd find a way.
