A man who stole various items from the Daughters of Utah Pioneers museum earlier this month was charged in 3rd District Court Wednesday.

Police believe Robert Lindsay, 48, broke into the museum, located at 324 Columbus, through a window and stole dozens of rare books, said to be worth more than $5,000, including two first-edition copies of the Book of Mormon. According to court documents, Lindsay also stole a collection of medals and two antique clocks from the museum on separate dates.

He is also believed to have caused more than $300 in damages to the museum.

Lindsay is charged with three counts of theft, one second-degree felony and two third-degree felonies, burglary, a third-degree felony, and criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor.
