The Bureau of Reclamation will begin investigational drilling for the hydropower plant at Jordanelle Dam this week.
The purpose of the drilling will be to establish the depth to bedrock and help ascertain engineering properties of the overburdened soil.
In 2005, the U.S. Interior Department approved construction of a hydroelectric power generation facility at Jordanelle Dam. The facility will be constructed through a partnership arrangement between the Central Utah Water Conservancy District and Heber Light and Power under a lease arrangement with Interior.
Power generated from the plant will be sold by HL&P to its customers. On-site construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in September.
