Real Salt Lake officials assured Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon on Wednesday that by the end of the week, the soccer team will give the county a detailed list of costs for building a proposed stadium.

Team executives met with Corroon and Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan late Wednesday to also clear up misconceptions about the use of hotel-tax revenue to help finance the stadium. "We really want to make sure the facts are straight," Real CEO Dean Howes said.

Real wants the county to funnel up to $35 million in hotel taxes toward a Sandy stadium. That money would be used for infrastructure, including sewer lines, road repairs and sidewalks.

Recent criticism that the hotel taxes would be tied up for the next 30 years for the stadium and ultimately leave other tourism projects unfunded is completely unfounded, Howes said. The team is expected to meet with the convention and visitors bureau today to discuss that point.

County officials recently criticized the soccer team for taking too long to detail construction and land-acquisition costs for the stadium.

The team wants to break ground on the $145 million stadium by August — a relatively short amount of time if the county wants to thoroughly examine the team's financial data, said Darrin Casper, the county's chief financial officer.

Howes said he plans to meet with county officials again next week to detail all the expected costs for the stadium.
