The director of the National Library of Medicine will share his experiences and insights at 9:30 a.m. at the University of Utah's Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library, kicking off the library's annual InfoFair.

Every day in Utah, one in 10 babies arrives too soon. But why?

March of Dimes is having its annual WalkAmerica, a popular 5k fund-raising event, at Wheeler Farm, with registration at 9 a.m. and the walk itself kicking off at 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $25 includes breakfast, entertainment and more. The money raised benefits the organization's premature birth prevention campaign. It supports research and programs to find out how to prevent premature births and efforts to give families hope.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will host a patient program on cancer treatment for older adults at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, 2000 Circle of Hope, fourth floor conference room, in Salt Lake City.

JuicePlus is sponsoring a lecture, "From Here to Longevity," featuring research scientist and author Mitra Ray. She specializes in degenerative diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease and believes health begins when people take responsibility and apply fundamental principles of biochemistry and physiology to their lives.

Ray will speak from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Marriott Salt Lake City Downtown, 75 S. West Temple, and that night, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Grand Summit Hotel, The Canyons Resort, in Park City.

The 10th annual Komen Salt Lake City Race for the Cure, a 5k run/walk, will take place at The Gateway, 400 West and South Temple, to raise money for breast cancer research and treatment.
