A lot has been made of the Mexican "conspiracy theory" lately. That is, that Mexicans are involved in a plot to invade the United States and take back the land that was "stolen" from them in 1848. Does any educated person really believe this? Mexican migration has been a constant since 1848, though I doubt anyone then checked a map to see where the borders were. If Mexicans continue to come here illegally, it is because their own country cannot provide the life that they want for their families. Most Mexicans I've spoken to would prefer to stay in their homeland, but with the "siren song" of the "American dream" calling, who can blame them? Instead of building more walls and installing stronger security, we should invest some money in strengthening Mexico's economy. More jobs and higher incomes in Mexico mean less immigration.
