Salt Lake City has won an award from a pedestrian-safety group for its traffic-light improvements.

America Walks gave the "City at Your Feet" award to the city for using overhead warning lights, crosswalk flags, longer walk periods for pedestrians, in-pavement warning lights and "LOOK" crosswalk signs.

The city credits the improvements with a 20 percent decrease in collisions involving pedestrians between 2000 and 2005.
