Awesome editorial on tax reform! (April 13). You guys hit the nail right on the head. The complexity of our tax code is the absolute biggest barrier to future American prosperity.
Unfortunately, some mighty powers are opposed to any significant tax-code reform. Arguably, the tax code is a way the government ensures that the people are working for the government instead of vice versa. A simpler tax code would benefit everyone by allowing everyone to be more productive.
The simple answer is a flat-tax system that would allow Americans to compute their taxes on a postcard. Anyone interested in this should read Steve Forbes' book "The Flat Tax." To compete with many rapidly developing industrial nations, tax-code reform is an absolute necessity.
Hopefully your editorial will get some people riled up.
