Center's grand-opening events

Following is a schedule for the grand opening events at the Bear River Wildlife Education Center on April 21-22.

April 21

7:30-11 a.m. — Shorebird I.D. workshop. *Reservations required.

9—11:30 a.m. — Refuge tour.

10-11 a.m. — Raptor identification class.

10-11:30 a.m. — "Sculpt a Teal" class for adults. *Reservations required.

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Lake Affect — Living on the Shores of the Great Salt Lake.

12:30-1:30 p.m. — When Great Optics Go Wrong. How to select binoculars.

1-2 p.m. — Kenn Kaufman book signing.

2-3 p.m. — Let's Go Wild. Photo presentation of refuges in America.

3-4 p.m. — Digi-scoping: What's it all About? What spotting scopes and digital cameras work best.

3-4 p.m. — Big Ol' Raptor Birds. Learn about raptors.

3-4:30 p.m. — Educators Forum. Educators invited to talk with environmental specialist.

4:30-5:30 p.m. — Great Travelers: Birds and Humans.

6-8 p.m. — Wildlife and Man: Sculpture with Greg Woodard.

April 22

7:30-11 a.m. — Birding with Kenn Kaufman. *Reservations required.

9 a.m. — Flag-raising ceremony.

9 a.m. — 2 p.m. — Poetry on the Pond: A Writing Workshop. Including walking for inspiration, listening, reading, mapping and exploring sensory detail. *Reservations required.

10-11:30 a.m. — Building dedication ceremony.

10-noon — Design a "Limberbird" Children's Activity. Dancing wooden puppets.

10-11:30 a.m. — Landscape watercolor classes for children. Limit 16 children on first come, first served basis.

11-noon — Those Amazing Raptors of Northern Utah.

12:30-2:30 p.m. — People and Places: A Field Journaling Workshop. *Reservations required.
