Sandy losing tax revenue

Last fall, Sandy voters approved rezoning the sand and gravel pit to allow big-box retailer Wal-Mart to build a Supercenter in Sandy. The ad campaign for Quarry Bend, funded primarily by Wal-Mart and the Boyer Co., promised increased tax revenue for Sandy residents. When Wal-Mart opened a new Supercenter in South Jordan, they immediately closed the Sandy Wal-Mart on State Street across from South Towne Mall. Until the Quarry Bend Wal-Mart opens, Sandy has no Wal-Mart sales tax revenue.
