"I did not know Colette Call, but I was approached last fall (to direct the project) and she had heard my name from some other people," said Nieman. "I am impressed with how far she's taken this. She has been at rehearsals every night. We're using the same recorded music used in the 2005 production but some of the recordings were digital and those can be changed. The non-digital recordings can't be speeded up without changing the pitch.

"Call is refining the show and has changed a few lines of dialogue here and there," he said.

Because the Rose Wagner Center is continuously booked with other shows, the "Power in His Touch" cast and crew have been rehearsing in two different venues — the Skyline High School music room and Lincoln Elementary multi-purpose room (the latter of which has an almost full-sized proscenium stage). During the week before it opens, the ensemble will rehearse in the Utah Opera Production Building space, complete with the actual set.

There will be a dress rehearsal on Monday in the Jeanne Wagner Theatre, followed by a performance the next night for an invited audience only. Public performances begin Wednesday. A portion of the proceeds from this year's ticket sales will be earmarked for the Granite Education Foundation and the Youth Enrichment Foundation. Call is director of music for the latter group, which brings music and art to children who are economically disadvantaged.
