Escort-service owner arrested

The owner of a local escort service was arrested Wednesday for not having a sexually oriented-business license in Salt Lake County.

Tiffany Cortis, 31, owner of Utah Doll House, was arrested for investigation of the class B misdemeanor.

The escort service reportedly has a license in Park City, but state law requires escort businesses to be licensed in each county where they operate.

Salt Lake County sheriff's investigators served a search warrant on Cortis' apartment near Brighton High School on Wednesday. Detectives had received information that two 17-year-old high school girls were offered cash and cars to work for the escort service, said sheriff's Lt. Robby Russo.

The sheriff's office had arrested women from the escort service in the past during sting operations for investigation of sex solicitation. That, combined with other evidence, led to the search warrant.

Detectives found camera equipment, computers, cash, receipts and a handgun inside the apartment.

Detectives did not have enough evidence Wednesday to arrest Cortis on the accusations about recruiting high school girls. Russo said the investigation was continuing.
