Bench A

To do

  • Shore up depth in post and strengthen Trent Plaisted's inside game

  • Find a shut-down defender on the wing to replace Jackson Emery and Brock Reichner

  • Develop point guard position

Going:

Brock Reichner never had a scholarship, but he was BYU's backbone as a leader and the most consistent scorer on the team. BYU will miss the defense and hustle of mission-bound Jackson Emery.

Coming back:

BYU returns the main core of a second-place MWC team that led the league in scoring with Trent Plaisted, Keena Young and Fernando Malaman in the middle, Jimmy Balderson and Lee Cummard on the wings, and Rashaun Broadus at point.

Newcomers

Transfer center Vuk Ivanovic, a 6-foot-10, 245-pound center from Serbia, will be eligible next season. Sam Burgess redshirted and will be eligible. The Cougars will welcome at least two high school recruits, Jordan Cameron from Newbury Park and Luiz de Toledo from Modesto Christian, both in California.

Tomorrow: University of Utah women
