I would like to congratulate the Deseret Morning News for two very fine articles printed on March 29. One, by John Hughes, is titled "Bush right to press for liberty in Iraq." I agree with Mr. Hughes that "America, founded on the cornerstone of freedom, should seek to extend it to others currently less fortunate." Many countries have sought our help when faced with suppression and war. Ultimately, we have been successful in liberating them. How many Americans know that Korea and Vietnam were not "declared wars" with the possibility of a victory, but were "police actions" mismanaged by the United States and foreign politicians?
The other article, by Walter Williams, "Alabama justice's ethics should be admired," is right on. Our courts, including the Supreme Court, have been making laws that they have no right to do. I agree with Mr. Williams. The practice has "bred contempt for the law."
